Boys Basketball vs. St. John's Northwestern Military Academy
The University School boys’ basketball team lost to St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy 86-59 in a Midwest Classic Conference game on Saturday, December 1st at St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy in Delafield.
“Simply put, we were just outplayed,” said USM’s head coach Sylvester Cutler. “We have a lot of work to do on the defensive end, especially our interior defense. We are still trying to find our identity as a team in many facets and will have to continue to work on the little details that make teams successful. Obviously, this is not the start we expected this season, but we will rebound and learn from it.”
The Wildcats only made 32% of their shots from the floor while the undefeated Lancers scored on 55% of their shots. St. John’s players scored on 9 of 19 three-pointers as well. Consequently, USM fell behind in the first half, and the Lancers nearly doubled USM’s score in the opening 18 minutes, which ended with St. John’s with a comfortable 16-point lead at 34-18. The Wildcats improved their scoring in the second half and had a total of 41 points in the frame. But the Lancers outscored them again, putting through 52 second half points.
