The Wildcats scored the game’s first points in the first quarter. They never relinquished the lead. Max Simanonok ran the ball in from 5 yards out with 1:27 left in the first quarter.  Bennett Brodsky’s point-after kick was no good.

USM went further ahead early in the second quarter.  Stephawn Easley scored on a 15 yard run at 9:49.  Brodsky’s kick was good to give the Wildcats a 13-0 lead.

The Pacers moved closer later in the quarter when Smith’s pass to Mayao gave them 6 points.  Smith kicked the extra point to make it 13-7 at 4:13.

The Wildcats dampened the host’s hopes by scoring again in the final seconds of the second quarter.  Boyd ran a quarterback keeper in from 20 yards out.  Brodsky kicked the extra point with 18 seconds left in the first half giving USM a solid 20-7 lead at halftime.

USM scored the only TD in the second half.  With 2:38 left in the third period, Jones scored his second touchdown of the game on a 2-yard plunge.  Brodsky scored the game’s final point on the kick.

The win allowed the Wildcats to even their record. USM is now 1-1 and 1-1 in the Metro Classic Conference. The Wildcats hope to improve their overall record when they play Madison Edgewood in a non-conference game at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16th at USM.
